November 19, 2025 – Shinheung Automotive Co., Ltd. (CEOs Ki-won Na and Seok-jae Yoon), a specialized manufacturer of key automotive components, announced that it has won the Excellence Award at the '2025 SME AI Transformation Best Practice Competition' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSSS) in recognition of its achievements in transforming analog manufacturing processes into artificial intelligence (AI)-driven operations, known as 'Manufacturing AX.'

This award resulted from successfully implementing a vision AI solution specialized for electric vehicle core component manufacturing processes through a consortium with CodeVision Co., Ltd. (CEO Eung-yeol Song), an autonomous AI agent specialist company.

The system deployed by Shinheung Automotive was applied to the press forming process for aluminum outer cans (Rear Suspension Outer Can) for electric vehicles. Extraction defects occurring during the deep drawing process of aluminum pipes had led to mold damage and frequent equipment shutdowns, continuously raising concerns about productivity decline and safety accident risks.

The stage-by-stage forming monitoring solution adopted by Shinheung Automotive enables AI to analyze video footage from inside the press machine and IoT sensor data in real-time to detect extraction defects. When abnormal signs are detected, the system immediately sounds an alarm and automatically stops the equipment to prevent damage to expensive molds. This is evaluated as an early commercialization case of autonomous agent-type technology where AI autonomously judges risks and intervenes, going beyond simple monitoring.

The actual implementation effects have been quantitatively proven. According to Shinheung Automotive's data, after implementing the solution, all major Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) improved, including ▲10% increase in hourly production ▲65% reduction in process defect rate ▲49% reduction in equipment repair time. This productivity innovation also led to substantial financial results, contributing to approximately KRW 1.8 billion (43%) improvement in operating losses compared to the previous year.

Seok-jae Yoon, CEO of Shinheung Automotive, stated, "Through this AI transformation project, we were able to secure both safety and productivity in our manufacturing operations simultaneously. We will continue to lead the electric vehicle components industry through ongoing digital innovation."
